Elise, loaded up like a truck and feeling like a bus! Note the dodger from Magic Jason (shortened so we could sheet in the main hard)...
After the start, heavy tacking, carefully looking at current lines to get out the gate and toward the Farallones. There was a lot of breeze by the bridge and we had our number 3 up (jib). Soon after we passed Bonita Pt, we switched to the #1 as the breeze got increasingly light...
Several packs of dolphins swam with us for a fairly l0ng time, they must then have gotten discouraged by our poor speed performance in light air...
A shark circled around the boat near the Farallones, probably thinking 'i didn't know they were doing the tourist runs that late in the summer'. We could see the menacing fin for a little while...
We slowly settled for the night in a 5 knot breeze and could see the Farallones islands for a very very very long time...We both stayed up until 7PM and then started our watch schedule:
2 hours on and 2 hours off at night
4 hours on and 4 hours off during the day
