Ultimate Yacht Shots from Ultimate Yachtshots

[[posterous-content:pid___0]] A pack of Melges getting near the leeward mark and taking their kites down[[posterous-content:pid___1]] Looking for fish - the sports is called Fishspotting[[posterous-content:pid___2]] That's a hell of a lot of Melgi!!![[posterous-content:pid___3]] Great shot - tihs is at the leeward mark. You can see the boats on the foreground have already rounded the mark and are back upwind, on their way to the windward mark (or the Finish line if it is the last leg) and you can still see a couple of boats with their spinnaker up, getting to the mark. It is actually a gate (you can see the two marks) - usually boats have a choice to pick either one of these marks and round them in any direction, that's what gates are for. Gives you more tactical freedom.[[posterous-content:pid___4]] Pre-feeding a spinnaker and getting ready to launch[[posterous-content:pid___5]][[posterous-content:pid___12]] So back to the point about boats sailing faster when they are kept upright...hope this is a good illustration :-) Incidently Strega is an Express 27, just like Elise is.

[[posterous-content:pid___6]] Serge the Viking on Marishana during the last Great Pumpkin race[[posterous-content:pid___7]] uh oh. I wouldn't want to be the guy on the mast. In general, it is very rude to broach when you have someone up there. the mast person tends to get their butt wet.[[posterous-content:pid___8]] Hard trimming the spinnaker[[posterous-content:pid___9]] they look awfully close from here[[posterous-content:pid___10]] Optimists! The little floating nutshell with a piece of cloth! What's what I learned on![[posterous-content:pid___11]] Looks like match racing, I can see an umpire boat flag behing this guy[[posterous-content:pid___13]] A lot of folks don't like to do foredeck. I don't get it. It's the most fun position there is. You get to jump all over the place like a child and spray feels like playing in the snow!
