Delivery from Windjammers - Day 1, Santa Cruz to Half Moon Bay

Nathan took most of the night watch - we left at about 3 in the morning - up shortly after sunrise, happy to be at sea, unhappy to have the engine on.

It was Romain's and Jerome's first trip on a boat - a tiring and trying experience for them.

Vlad was so cool during the whole thing even though he was cold during the night. What a trooper!

Jerome preferred the settee to the bunk - perhaps because the bunk feels a bit claustrophobic. After a weekend on Crescendo, Elise definitely feels quite small.

We finally got to use our sails to travel which made everyone happier. It is a nicer more stable rhythm.

And what a difference a night makes. We saw nothing of the 20+ knots and heavy seas of the previous days. Just a calm steady 10 knots, making for an extremely pleasant sail.

and fabulous sights - pigeon point lighthouse. We also saw one whale.

Happy sailing!

and we finally made it to Half Moon Bay to see the sea lions waiting for us at the channel marker

Final approach - we changed to the jib for comfort when the wind reached 12 knots.

We saw thousands of birds on our way in. Magic!

We raced this boat to the entrance of the harbor and won...

Cleaning up shop before having dinner at the seafood place near the harbormaster office.

We had a really big slip for a very small boat!
