My answer: 'wind'
Well, as the French say, one must 'faire contre mauvaise fortune bon coeur' - eg. keep his or her spirits up in the face of adversity. So, stuck for stuck might as well make it a useful idleness.
Here's what happened:
- Aired out nav table (which had gotten flooded after heavy rain due to a small leak from the shrouds chain plates
- Re-attached the port-side bungee cord at the bow so that headsails that have been dropped can be bungee'ed down
- Attached forward lifeline with stainless steel parts as opposed to strong lines - a bit more permanent. Tension is OK. Might have to change to adjustable fitting if the tension needs to be adjusted
- Fixed the small lines that run as a web of little triangles/diamonds under the lifeline so that sails or other items don't roll overboard
- Bought a 4th big fender as the previous one mysteriously disappeared
- Bough a new boat knife as the previous one mysteriously disappeared
- Bought deck cleaning equipment (chemicals: Teflon) in anticipation of next job...
- Bought fishing wire and 16 small nuts to help fit the spinnaker halyard through the mast (again)
- Brought new bottle opener/corkscrew as the previous one looks a little twisted now
- Bought new dockline as I thought that the 4th one had mysteriously disappeared but it was actually hiding with the cruising anchor chain. Same color and it was awfully deceptive. As I was rinsing off that chain, I found the dock line. So now, Elise has 5 dock lines.
- Bought a new sailing watch (racing = countdown timer is required) as I just lost mine overboard - in prevision of upcoming Midwinters
- Enjoyed a nice late brunch, some beer (for Nathan) and wine (for Nat)
Cheers -
