Coastal Cup - Day 2 - approaching Conception - Heather's Photos
Wind around Conception was around 38-40 knots, with gusts at 45 knots. Seas were as high as 25 to 30 feet at times. We kept France up until it became time to change our point of sail to a reach to get into the Santa Barbara Channel. Elise was flying!!!
On these photos, we had put the pole a little forward as we were trying to sail as high as we could under these conditions to keep the spinnaker up as long as possible!
Average boat speed at that time was around 14 knots, and we pushed it several times to 15 and 16 knots down a wave.
Deck was very wet (we put on the hatch boards) and the boat became soaked very quickly.
