Photos at the start - purchased from Erik Simonson (www.h2oshots.com)
Crew was Nat, Nathan and Heather
Elise got 4th in division and 9th overall and the Schumacher permanent Trophy

Great conditions. After we set the kite (soon after Seal Rock), we had 15-20 steady breeze, increasing to 20-25 in the evening, blowing 25-30 during the first night. Back to 15-20 in the morning of Friday, increasing to 20-25 in the afternoon. Early evening, blowing 25-30. We changed spinnaker from the 3/4 to the 1 and 1/2. At night, increasing to 30-35 as we got close to Conception, we still had the spinnaker up until we had to change our sailing angle to a reach to get into Santa Barbara (about a 30 mile reach). Wind increased to 40+ knots around Conception, and we topped 16.9 knots of boat speed with the #3 up. We could not carry a kite on a reach with that type of wind. Top speed under spinnaker was 16.4 but we did a lot of 12 and 15 knots.

Swells toward the end of the trip were about 15 - 18ft. A couple of times, the entire boat was pretty vertical and occupying the entire height of a wave, so we saw a few 25-30 ft waves. Pretty unfriendly around Point Conception as they were all coming from widely different angles and boat had a couple of super brief roundups (under #3!!) because of waves.

Breeze nearly died as we neared the finish line and we squeezed by before it shut down completely...
