Hitting the bars in the marina

We celebrated at the Park Chalet afterwards!!

Coastal Cup 2010 - Elise Video 2
Elise Express 27 Coastal Cup 2010, near Pt. Conception. Should have had the blast reacher up (angle was too hot to carry the spinnaker).
Coastal Cup 2010 - Elise - Video 1
(not sure why this one came out granier than the other one...uploading/processing artifact of Youtube, apparently) Elise Express 27 Coastal Cup 2010 - Afternoon/evening near Pt. Conception, Nat driving. Angle was too hot for a spinnaker with that wind. We had a blast reacher but didn't want to spend the time bareheaded to swap it out (Elise uses hanks). Pt Conception is visible off to the left as we head towards Santa Barbara (the finish line).

Good video of Coastal Cup 2007
Clearly this isn't the same boat as Elise but it still gives you an idea of what it was like in 40+ knots of wind off Conception. Enjoy!
Drakes Bay - heading back to the Club
Heading back to the Club meant really light air close to Tiburon and Richardson Bay, then really heavy air as we cross over. Since we were not racing anymore, we didn't want to switch to the jib for such a short distance. We knew Elise would be slightly overpowered but she could take it. There was also a strong ebb which allowed us to steer very low (so the boat wasn't hard against the wind and actually quite able to fly the genoa), particularly after we steered really high (basically toward the bridge) in the light air stuff.

Drakes Bay - post finish relaxing time
Red Sky
Heading to Sam's - this is the other side of the finish line (Corinthian Yacht Club race deck)
We had to wait for a spot at Sam's dock. We maneuvred under sail the entire time in close quarters as there were other boats waiting, apparently impressing a couple of folks.
I had difficulties recognizing the burgee of my home club...
Apparently these things cost $80,000???
This is for Roger - La Bamba

Drakes Bay - Sunday - the finish
that last leg was in really really really light air and current, creeping up to the Finish line. Elise finished with all the big boats. Not bad after 30+ miles of racing!
Drakes Bay - Reaching to Tiburon waters
At that time, it was a reach to Tiburon, so we had the genoa up anyway and the loss of our pole during the round down wasn't really felt.

Boats kept getting wiped out at the Gate
Drakes Bay - Sunday - Golden Gate Bridge
The J105 Poseidon heading for the gate
Elise heading for the gate. The race is one! (the J tore their spinnaker and we broke our pole)
That's another style of competition...can you guys see the sea lion head popping out of the water? This was a GREAT shot???
Photo courtesy of Nathan - breeze was in the mid-twenties by the gate.
Drakes Bay - Bonita Point
Nearing and crossing Bonita Point. The wind near the gate will pick up considerably as it always does (funnel effect)
