Summer Keel

This was a typical windward/leeward with a gate type event. In San Francisco Bay the first race was already in a 20 knot breeze and we sailed in some 30 knots for the rest of Saturday. Conditions I absolutely love. They are so much fun.

Vlad also really liked these conditions - however as we are still learning to work as a team, some of the operations didn't quite work so well and we had a round down (fortunately during a gybe so the pole wasn't connected to anything during that time so no breakage) and we finished a race with the last downwind leg spinnakerless. Good learning though

I was quite wet on the foredeck

I did foredeck for the event and Nathan was driving.

On the Sunday, we were only 4 but strangely enough because there was one fewer person to coordinate and because the learnings from the previous day were starting to be put in practice, the maneuvers went much better. The wind was roughly the same perhaps a little less than on the first day - really typical summer conditions on San Francisco Bay when it basically nukes all summer, at least from June to early September - calmer days are the exceptions not the norm.

Watching the other fleets start - with only 4 we were definitely not competitive in the hight winds but our maneuvres were flawless and it was a ton of fun

Great driving on part of Nathan

This photo was taken by Nathan - this is a survival suit which means a dry suit with more thermal properties. I was pretty much feeling like I was in a boiler most of the downwind and most of the day - the long upwind back to the Club had me with perfect temperature.
