Sailing in Lake Tahoe on Dianne

I am not doing SHTP this year but I sure am getting my sailing fix. Steve from Dianne kindly invited me to sail in Tahoe at a local event.

It turns out that we have more in common than just sailing Express 27s...He is the proud owner of the cutest cat!

The Tahoe fleet at the dock (of a private property made available to the sailors, how nice! Steve diving to clean the bottom. The boats stay in the water - not salty so not big growth.

Thomas, with whom we went sailing on the Saturday - and who raced with us on Sunday too. Great foredeck person.

The home of three Express 27 on Lake Tahoe.

The lake is amazing - there are so many different colors - we had some fierce winds on Saturday (gusting 30) and the boat raced through the water at 14.5 knots! Was so awesome. The water is REALLY cold though, to some degree it feels colder than the water in San Francisco Bay.

The water close to the short is so clear and shallow that you can see everything underneath

The scenery is breathtaking

Getting ready for the race on Saturday - we got a second! Steve is a fantastic sailor. The wind wasn't as strong on the Saturday, but very shifty which is quite typical of lake sailing. We basically had an upwind, a reach, a downwind and another upwind

Enjoying a well deserved post race drink

There was still snow on the mountains nearby near Desolation Valley (it was raining hard there on the Saturday)
