I believe that this is one of our SSS friends!

an explosive start...

Didn't realize they had convicts in that race!

And a note from Elise's coach

About our last spinnaker drop on Day 1 (turns out we didn't have to drop it because it was a shortened course and the finish line, strangely enough no one noticed the S flag...) - now, if the flag was flying at the start line, doesn't that mean that the finish was at the windward mark? Aren't you supposed to fly that flag at the mark right before the new finish???

"that drop at what turned out to be the end of race #2 was a fairly decent Mexican takedown for never having practiced one. The RC absolutely swears that the S flag was flying at the start of Race #2.  Funny that not a single Express 27 noticed it eh?'

'When we do a garbage (i.e. pole less) set, we need to make sure that the head of the kite is tossed around the headstay, now that we know that the jib hanks like to trip the kite halyard shackle.'

'I really liked the boatspeed on Saturday.  I’m thinking that having extra weight helped when the breeze was up.  Nat, you want to keep a spreadsheet of your crew weight.  We want to sail as close to max weight as possible.  Heel angle makes a huge difference on the E-27, and hiking helps, you could feel it on Sat.'

'We also had pretty good turns, and we only had one goofy gybe. it’s better to wait until we’re all ready than to rush it and create the mess.'

[note from Nat: the goofy gybe was because we didn't take the time to square the pole]

About being over early on race 1

'if you’re not OCS once in awhile you’re not trying hard enough'

[Note from Nat: it may have given us even more eagerness, having to climb up all the way to a good position]

'Elise has top third boatspeed, and you guys are sailing the boat really well.'
