This is Nathan's writeup that I am re-posting2nd, 2nd. This past weekend was the Vallejo race(s). Saturday is a race down from the Berkeley Circle to VYC and Sunday we race back from VYC to a point a little bit on the San Pablo Bay side of the Richmond Bridge. In a pair of races featuring extremely light air, Elise finished #2 on both days (one design, about 14 starters on Saturday and possibly a couple fewer on Sunday because the air at the end Saturday was light enough to cause lots of dropouts). We were originally scored #3 on Sunday, but Dianne (#0) inadvertently missed a restricted area and is withdrawing. The current was very favorable over there and the channel markers are a little bit confusing (the first green one doesn't have a matching red). Kudos to them for the corinthian attitude (we pointed out the mistake, Steve K checked his charts and talked to his crew, and they're pulling out). Nice job and thanks to everyone for a great weekend! Sat: (5 crew) Eric on tactics (and some very nice calls in light air as well as diligent trimming that kept us going when it dropped to almost nothing), Suzanne on trim as well as working Elise's bow for the first time to execute some clean light-air gybes right against a breakwater, Serge working trim with Suzanne+Eric, and fresh meat Neal (who we will hopefully be seeing back), Nathan. Sun: (4 crew) Suzanne (stepping up to run trim), Serge, Neal, Nathan. Suzanne also suffered through prepping the kite twice only to have the wind go way forward and be unable to set.
