Elise went out for a practice after yesterday's Ocean race. The plan was to practice mark roundings. She also got a new pin for its vang as the previous one broke free during the DHF.
Suzanne, our upwind trimmer (or port side trimmer on long distance races)Elise is leaving the dock with Michiel, Mark, Nick (our coach), Suzanne and Nathan. Nat stayed behind because of some orbital fracture.
Elise gliding out of the harbor
Mark setting up the mainsail
Elise, upwind on her way to the mark
Elise is tacking right before the mark and will head towards it
Post tack, getting to the mark (it was flooding heavily so Elise gave it a wide berth
Coming downwind around the mark
Michiel sets up the pole
The spinnaker comes out of the bag and is being hoisted
Spinnaker is up! Elise is on ther way to the leeward mark where it will be dropped and the jib will be hoisted again for the next upwind leg.
Interesting way to propel a sailing vessel forward
