This is one of the Clipper boats...they go around the world with amateur crew UPWIND!!!! Why would anyone want to go for thousands and thousands of miles upwind??? New depth sounding techniques. If the feet touch the ground, there may not be enough water for the boat Hiking hard - upwind, boats heel a lot and the weight of the crew helps keep them upright, hence faster (imagine the angle of attack of the wind into the sail, the straighter the mast and sail the more force the wind will have on impact - the other thing is that the more the boat heels, the more leeway it suffers from, eg. it goes more and more sideways...Given that most marks will be forward of the boat, it usually isn't a good thing) and sometimes, even the crew is a little surprised when a puff comes That's my type of boating. Mediterranean style that is. Spinnaker take-down.probably at the leeward mark Sad sight Dinghies are so much fun!!! This guy's flying!
