Cold - rainy - not windy. We turned on the engine to head back
Brian: 'let me just turn it on to make sure it works'
'it works, maybe I could just put it in gear' - and back we went...
It really was Brian and his harem: Nat, Pat, Belle and Suzanne
Suzanne and Pat are still smiling but Belle is clearly way past that :) Brian and Nat pondering over life and wondering if aerobics wouldn't be a better sports choice Belle checking to make sure the bar is still open, because they have a fireplace there...
Let's face it - in sailing you get wet. You can get really really wet even. It was not raining during Coastal Cup but we were zooming along in waves at 17 knots so we were very very wet. Upwind, Elise is wet. And when it rains, we get wet. Good foul weather gear is pretty important, I had my new jacket on (I realized that it was time to change when the other one stopped working...) so it was still waterproof and I was very warm and dry underneath it. My feet and legs were also dry.
Hands get very cold when sailing - your face can get cold too. Wear a hat and try warm waterproof gloves and put your hands into your jacket pocket when you are not using them. Try to go down below for a little while from time to time to get warm if you have to.
Fiberglass, metal and wet lines are not helping...
