(transcribed from a phone call by Nathan)
As I write this, Elise is about 120 miles from the finish line. Based on
her progress today (about 6 kts made good since this morning) that puts
her at the finish around 5 or 6 PM Pacific time tomorrow (2 or 3 PM local
time).
Her main racing concern at this point is beating Libra the Mini 6.5, who
is still ahead of her boat for boat but behind on corrected time.
She's had company: a boobie has been accompanying her. After trying a few
perches (the top of the spinnaker, on deck next to the winches) it settled
on the stern-mounted solar panel. It took a few naps and didn't seem
worried about her proximity.
Nat has given herself a chance to rest up over the last day or so because
she won't be getting much sleep near the islands (excitement and concern
about navigation). While doing that, she's had to shorten sail.
