All in all, we were doing well after we crossed the start line (which we had trouble getting to in heavy flood with very light winds - until we went to Southampton shoal (the last mark before the finish) - then we opted for the long way around Angel Island back to Little Harding, under the assumption that there would be no wind in Racoon and not enough current there to make up for the lack of wind.
Big mistake...tactical decision cost us every single place in the race! Other than that, boat speed was good...
