Rainy weekend... After the first downwind leg of the first race... The boatyard had left a bottle of wine on the boat...and we needed something to finish the day on a high note after the pole incident...

On Sunday, the wind died in the middle of the second race, we swapped head sail (switched to a bigger one) on the downwind - taking a hit on the upwind...the course was shorten (lack of wind) - then the race committee waited 1) for the wind to pick up again and 2) to be stable enough that we could set a race course. Unfortunately that took quite a while, some 45 min or so. Meanwhile we are sitting in the rain in very little wind...great Elise's scarf Hi JF and Nat

Hullo Mark

Where did Pete and Nathan go?

A start at the Simpson's Regatta

All photos by Ultimate Yachtshots - http://ultimate-yachtshots.smugmug.com/

right at the start, Nathan and Pete are getting on the rail - we still have Mark trimming the jib and JF at the bow telling the driver to slow down or accelerate based on the distance to the line - indicates the distance with one hand in boat-lengths Nathan moves fast and jumps on the rail - how fast you can jump on the rail makes a big difference. 2 people on the rail - Nathan and Pete we are starting, just before the gun, 3 people on the rail last person is also jumping up we have started

All photos courtesy of Ultimate Yachtshots - http://ultimate-yachtshots.smugmug.com/ hanging out before a start, probably in sequence since our jib was up the boat end of the finish lines (most lines with temp buoys will have a boat end and a pin end) right after crossing the finish line Getting close to the finish line (between that mark boat and a pin Nat and Michiel Going home...
